Explore Key Details of the Upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia
One of the fiercest rivalries in the history of cricket is slated to begin soon, while team India is wounded at the moment after receiving a shocking test series defeat against New Zealand at home (3-0). India needs to win this series 4-0 with 1 game drawn or inflict a 5-0 whitewash to ensure they book their tickets for Lord’s in June 2025 without depending on other results.
Meanwhile, their opponents the Australians are looking for some revenge as they’ve not won this trophy in 10 years. Their fortress has been breached by a resurgent Indian team twice in 3 years (2018 & 2021). The Australians were again on the receiving end when they toured India last year losing the series by a margin of 2-1 in the 4-match series with one game drawn. Australia, however, got their revenge on India by winning the WTC final at the Oval last year & also the 2023 ODI World Cup final at Ahmedabad.
This series holds a lot of stakes for both teams with one looking to revive their test graph while the other is looking to win the trophy that has eluded them in the last decade. On that note let’s have a look at the important details that you need to know about the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2024-25.
