The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction date has been officially announced, with Bengaluru set to host the much-anticipated event. Top franchises will gather to finalize their squads, marking a crucial step in shaping the upcoming season. Fans eagerly await the auction, which promises exciting bids for star players and emerging talents in women’s cricket.
19 slots are available to be filled in the WPL 2025 auction.
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction is slated for December 15 in Bengaluru. This will be a mini-auction ahead of the third edition of the WPL.
Earlier this month, all the five teams announced their list of retained and released players ahead of the WPL 2025 auction.
Across the five teams, 71 players, including 25 overseas, were retained. Each team can have a maximum of 18 squad members (maximum of six overseas players). This means that 19 slots will be available to be filled at the mini-auction.
The BCCI has increased the purse of each team from INR 13.5 crores to INR 15 crores for the upcoming mini auction.
Among some of the notable international players who will be up for grabs at the WPL 2025 mini auction are England captain Heather Knight, New Zealand pacer Lea Tahuhu, West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin and India allrounder Sneh Rana.
Which Team Holds the Biggest Purse in the WPL 2025 Auction?
Gujarat Giants, who were at the bottom in both seasons, will enter the WPL 2025 auction with the largest purse of INR 4.4 crores, while Delhi Capitals, the two-time runners-up, have the smallest purse of INR 2.5 croress.
The WPL 2025 is expected to be played between February-March, and end around the first week of March as the IPL 2025 is set to kick off on March 14.
