Running a cricket academy near his home, Johnson is survived by his wife and two children. A Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) official stated, “We were informed that he had fallen from the fourth floor of his apartment building. He was taken to Crescent Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.”
According to police, “It is believed that 52-year-old David Jude Johnson fell from his apartment in Kanaka Sri Layout in Kothanur, raising suspicions of suicide.” The news of his passing has shocked the cricketing community, with former cricketers Anil Kumble and Gautam Gambhir expressing their sorrow and condolences.
